I found the work easier than described. OTOH, the first replacement battery shipped by iFixit was defective: clearly curved and wouldn't fit correctly. After sending photos, iFixit promptly shipped me a second replacement battery, which fit correctly. The almost 10 year-old computer now has far longer endurance on battery power. I am quite satisfied.

Couldn't get the plastic spudger under the edge of the bezel. A right-angle X-Acto blade was a satisfactory tool here.

This ⬆︎⬆︎ is excellent advice. I did excactly as Dorothy said. The screen disengaged from the case very easily.

The removal and installation went exactly as described, and the new trackpad worked correctly the first time. The toughest part - truly, not all that difficult - was manipulating the four screws that hold the trackpad in place. I don't think I've seen such small threaded fasteners since I went to a watch museum!
