HP Laptop power button no longer reacting to press after update.

I have the following Hp: 15-cn1073wm Envy X360.

It always acts slow and weird right when updates become available. It started acting weird again a few days ago, so I had decided to update as soon as I saw the update option. I selected "update and shutdown", left my laptop open, and went to bed.

When I woke up, it was off, but when I attempted to turn it on, it didn't respond to me in any way at all. Typically, the battery light blinks if the battery is dead, and this time, the battery wouldn't even change - no light indicator, nothing. I was able to get a charge for like 5 seconds, before the lights just went off entirely. So the battery was not charging, nor was it near dead before the update.

I decided to purchase a new battery (despite running system diagnostics and a battery test less than 10 days before this problem began, and it said my battery was good). Using the charger with the new battery, it was slow blinking orange for the first maybe 10 or so minutes. Eventually it stopped doing that, I guess and turned white - indicating a full charge.

After installing battery #2, Now, I see that the battery is fully charged, but yet the power button is still not working at all. I cannot seem to turn the device on. The power button doesn't light up either. I don't remember what the updste was called, unfortunately either 😕.

Idk if it's the screen, but I also plugged it into a monitor with hdmi and nothing is displaying, so I need help diagnosing the issue. I dont mind taking it to a shop, but if I can fix something on my own, I would really prefer that instead.

Also, I am having a hard time finding information about my specific model online as well. If you have anything, I would GREATLY appreciate it. I am not prepared for a new laptops just yet.

Hi @sumy

First thing is to get the laptop starting and then once that's achieved is to look at the Windows problem.

Try the following:

Disconnect the charger from the laptop (if it is connected)

The press and hold the Power button operated for 20 seconds and then release it.

Try turning the laptop on.

If still no good, open the laptop and remove the battery from the laptop. Once it is removed press and hold the Power button operated for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

Reinsert the battery, reassemble the laptop, connect the charger and then check if it turns on OK.

FYI Here's the maintenance and service guide, taken from this support webpage for your model.

Thank you, I am unfortunately still unable to get the computer to turn in, however the battery is showing fully charged. Is there another link to the manual for my model? It seems that Hp have removed the one you sent from their website.
