Why won't my camera let me take picture

Everytime I try to take pictures with my camera it keeps saying, Memory is write protected . What does that mean?

Check that the SD Card’s sliding write protect tab has not been operated.

How could you tell if it has not been operated?

You can try by just switching the position of the switch and see if it fixes the problem.
