The ESP led is on with the abs ?

The ABS system needs many informations to work properly, like the speed of each wheel, how many persons are in the car…

So if one of the sensors fails then the ABS won’t work, you have to check them using a pc and a diagnostic box.

Are you referring to an ODB reader when you say "diagnostic box" or something more exotic?

I'm good with PCs, but is the software available online?

Basically, is this something only available to professionals or those with lots of money?

Is it reasonably easy to know and find where ALL of the sensors are, and can they be tested without a PC?

I know ABS is complex, but I hope it's possible for an intelligent amateur mechanic to deal with.

Yes I mean an OBD reader, there are many brands the cheap ones only gives you limited information and they can work with a smartphone, so if you need to check every sensor then you'll need a professional OBD, also assuming you managed to fix the problem you will have to clear fault codes with an OBD in order to get your ABS to work.

You can watch this video to have an idea of the cheapest OBD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIa0nsrQ...

If you want to repair it by yourself then buy one of these and proceed like this:

2- Check the fuses and relays.

1- Clean the sensors that you can reach (depend on the car model) and check their wiring

3- Clear the fault codes

the only real thing you can do is double check the sensor, make sure its not dirty, then check the fuse, if that's fine, then I would suggest taking it to a mechanic.
