iPod Touch 5th Wont Turn On After Screen Repair

Hi I just replaced my screen on my ipod touch 5th gen and i connect all the ribbon chords and every thing and when i connect one of the ribbons from the screen to the motherboard the motherboard starts to get hot! The screen isnt actually fully on, I wanted to make sure it turned on before I snapped it back in place. Any ideas? When I disconnect the ribbon the temp goes down. Screen is an OEM screen from Apple. I read somewhere, and i have personally have done it, that you can short the battery on the ipod touch 4th and it fixes it but im not sure on the 5th.

I also have this problem. When I connect the new screen or the broken one it will not turn on. The motherboard gets hot. I tried putting pressure on the battery pads, but no luck. Any suggestions?

I just figured it out...FINALLY. (you must know that i repair mobile devices all day long. I have worked on over 500 iphones, 200 iPads and 400 iPods..So i know what i am doing). This repair took me 6 hours...i had the screen off within 5 min. I found that if i hold my thumb over the solder point of the battery cable/ Logic board with pressure..the iPod turned on. When i took my thumb off...it shut off. I inspected the solder and the cable and everything looks good. I put some electrical tape over it and layered it in 3 layers..then put the Metal plate/sheild back on and im good to go know..

Dear iFixit: Change your instructions and have people De-Solder the Battery...the cable and solder points and or pads are very fragile...I almost lost a customer because of this.

Hmmm thats interesting. I held down the home and power button and it magically rebooted and turned on. Good to know that there is at least 2 troubleshoots now :)

This happened to me before, I tear down it again and reassemble, the problem solved. Sounds like something missing at the first time I reassembled. Luckily, it was fixed.

I have a similar issue I am hoping for help on.

Replaced the screen with a new one and now all i get is a black screen. If i connect to iTunes it registers and I can see it there. I can get Siri to work and hear the camera snapping but all the time the screen is black.

I replaced it again with another new screen and it's still black. getting worried now as customer wants to to take it on Holiday tonight?

Any suggestions?

I have tried restoring it as well,

Tried the power and home button press for 20 secs as well but no joy.

Update

still no help with this? I suspect something is shorting whilst completing the repair due to accidentally switching it on. I think it must be the LCD driver or coil that has burnt out and may attempt to replace it. will report back when I do.

Any solution yet? I have exactly same problem. Replaced the screen and now I only get a blank screen, even the old broken screen is blank now, device is recognized by iTunes. Any help would be really appreciated.

did you ever figure this one out? same thing happened to me, the old digitizer isn't working anymore either. iTunes recognizes it, it lights up sometimes but stays black, and occasionally i'll see random white lines/spots

ipod touch 5th gen screen replaced but screen is still black, itunes recognises the device and it has charge so it is operational but the screen doesnt light up. have held power and home key this does nothing. seriously frustrated need help!

This may sound strange but if you have tried all other options take a small flat head screw driver and find the cable that connects right behind ware the front facing camera is soldered and right above that connector are two small square capacitors that get stuck keeping each other charged. Stick the screw driver between them to connect the circuit only for half a second. You may get a spark that is normal and bam screen springs to life and all function returns.

I got the home and power button to work but now the touch screen doesn't work. I'm thinking maybe an eastwing hammer and an anvil next. This will definitely make it not need a screen repair anymore!

If ipod is working and no touch then check wire for digitizer and if it is all the way connected the wire got damaged during repair or bad from who ever sold it.
