I have a flip 3 that will not put out sound. It worked twice after I bought it. Now I get no sound when turning it on or from my bluetooth device. When I turn it on I get a faint click sound, but nothing else.

I checked the indoor & it's not loose or damaged. I'm at a loss what the issue is.

Any ideas?

I'd put my money on a chip failure. I click to me suggests that it is preparing to work and is interrupted. If all the solder joints are good and no damage is seen then an inline capacitor tester is a good thing to check caps.

We really need a board diagram with voltage test points to properly diagnose these.

My flip3 fell on the floor once and the buttons and leds stopped working.

I found out that the ribbon was completed severed. So weird. No idea how it could have happened.

Where can I find a new ribbon? Looks pretty special at about 240mm long with 13pins.

I have a few.

EBay is a good resource. Flip 3s are a commonly repaired item.

I dipped my flip 3 into a tub for few minutes it worked well for few days but after few days it started to malfunctioning it turns on and of by itself the Bluetooth connection with my phone doesn't lasts for a minutes so please help me

I’d put money on corrosion. There is likely oxidation that is short circuiting pins/traces. This corrosion could be anywhere and everywhere…. Even apart of the battery. I’d clean up everything with alcohol and q-tips.

I believe some kind of sand or water got into the USB port of my flip 3 and for a while I had to prop up the speaker perfectly with the charger insert placed perfectly and it’d charge but now as of today no matter how I move it around in the USB port my charger will show no signs of charging m. If I turn it on and it makes Bluetooth connection with my phone it turns off instantely due to low battery! please suggest what I should do!

Replace USB module. You might be able to realign the USB pins but generally it will fail again.

Tyler Freeman -

Looks like the USB port or charger is damaged. Prolly the port from your description. It also could be the internal connections of the port.

Replace the module. I have a few left.

My grandson was trying to help me by plugging the USB cord into the port on the speaker. I'm almost certain he bent the thin metal price inside the port. Please help save this as it also has sentimental value! My grandson cut his teeth on it & he's a very special Angel born at just 26weeks gestation to a very scared 17hr old soon to be mom. Being born so early & having to fight to beat all the odds of surviving. He's now a PERFECT almost (Nov 17) 3yr old healthy, energetic, exceptionally smart & handsome little man!! Thank you

Se me ha caido y no suena. Las luces andan. ¿Cual es el problema?

Agustin - Contestar

My 2,5 yrs Flip 3 being charged has constantly after about 5 minutes a spontaneously shutdown. Is this a signal that the battery needs to be replaced? in that case I could spend 15 Euro. thanks for advise, if possible.

lucky - Contestar

I’d put money that the battery is getting warm expanding ever so slightly and forcing the case into the power button.

If this happens:

1-Can you turn it back on immediately or does the button seem different? Check all buttons.

Yes: It might be chip/SMD issues.

No: Battery.

Every time there is an issue, I inspect, fiddle and observe. Since there is a commonality of battery expanding in the unit and mushing the buttons from the inside, I’d assume that yours is at the level where it is beginning. Most of those I mess with have badly expanded batteries. So I haven’t seen it begin.

Hi Tyler and all,

The first of the five led (for charge indicator) is blinking forever when I try to charge my flip. It turns on (without any sound) and can connect to BT but that’s all.

I changed the battery but that’s not the culprit.

I removed the motherboard but I don’t know what to begin with. Any idea?

cottet cyril - Contestar

I am at the exact same spot. Did you ever solve this?

Niclas -

I have the JBL flip 3, I just replaced the battery and everything works, I get some rattling every now and again, its not consistent but persistent enough to be a nuisance. any ideas on what it could be? Im guessing its related to the battery being replaced? It doesnt do the crackling like when the battery was going out but its more of a rattle now.

socomfort2 - Contestar

I have two Flip 3s. The first one keeps turning itself on and off at random. The power on button is also not very easy to press. Suspect it’s a battery issue.

The second one crackles and makes a cracking and buzzing noise when turned on.

Any thoughts on how to fix them.

Laura - Contestar

Hi, my trusty old Flip 3 makes a cracking noise when you increase the volume. Any idea what is causing that and if its fixable?

i have a jbl flip 3 se i tried holding in the music pause botton and the volume up botton to hard reset it but now it wont turn on at all. if i plug it in it turns on but bluetooth doesnt turn on and it turns off right away if i unplug it

what do i do?

Marcus Bjerning - Contestar

My flip three is scratchy at medium to high volume what should I do can you give me a price ?

Diego Morales - Contestar

Same here, anything above 20% volume max scratching noises as if the Bluetooth starts glitching up. But I’m pretty sure it’s not the Bluetooth connection that’s the problem, I’m more thinking towards broken amplifier?

Johan Berander -

My flip 3 was dropped from 5 feet height. After that, it turned on but no sound is heard. And the Bluetooth is not getting connected. I tried doing hard resetting. During that time a red light came and it switched off. What can be done in this situation? Help me pls
