Device won't power on

Device is not responding or turning on.

Faulty power supply

Sometimes troubleshooting a faulty power supply is as simple as checking the outlet or charger. Check to see if the outlet being used is working. If there’s still an issue, the next thing to do is check the charger. Look for any chips or tears that the ac adapter might have. If the laptop failed to turn on by changing the outlet or the ac adaptor, then there is a problem with the device's battery.

Faulty battery

Batteries typically have a lifespan of 2 to 4 years. Examples of when it’s time to change a faulty battery are when the battery lasts less than three hours, the laptop takes overall longer to charge, or when the battery begins to overheat and turns off unexpectedly. To check if there needs to be a battery replacement, begin by checking the power supply. If the laptop turns on, but only when it’s plugged in, then the battery must be replaced. Please refer to our battery replacement guide.

Device is overheating

Device is constantly overheating.

Battery inefficiency

Battery ineffectiveness can cause overheating. Check your device's battery storage to see what's taking power. Click on the settings icon and chose "System Settings." Navigate to 'Device and Power'. Here you will see whatever it is that's draining your battery. You can either force the application or software to stop by right-clicking on it and selecting "Force Stop", or by manually opening apps and selecting "Close" or "Exit". A low battery percentage also causes the device to overheat. Check this by hovering over the battery icon in the bottom far right corner. If the battery is low, then you should plug in your laptop to its charger. If the device wont charge, refer to our battery guide.

Faulty cooling system

Another problem that causes overheating issues is a faulty cooling system. In order to check, first listen carefully to your device. If you notice a loud noise coming your device, that's the fan being overworked to cool your system. This is caused by dust build up preventing the fan from working properly. Please refer to our fan replacement guide; however, keep in mind that you will not be replacing the fan, just cleaning it. In order to clean the fan, you will need a cotton swab and a canned air duster. Do not use water as it will cause a hazard due to electrical components.

After listening to your device again, if you didn't notice a noise, then keep your device on and flip it over. Locate where air is released from the vent. To do this place your hand on the back of your device and move it until you feel air being pushed out. If you don't feel that air is being released, then the problem is with the fan. The fan will need to be replaced. Please refer to our fan replacement guide.

Keyboard keys are not functioning

Typed keys are not appearing on screen.

Faulty key

A faulty key is a common problem that users have with keyboards. Identifying whether it's just a key or the whole keyboard is very important, because it can save you time and money. First open up a program like "Notes" that will allow you to type an abundance of keys. In sequential order start at the top of your keyboard and work your way down. Take a mental note of the keys that do not work. For this next step you will need a canned air duster. Aim your canned air duster in the openings between the keys that were not working, and spray. This will clear out any debris in the key that was preventing it from functioning.

Faulty keyboard

After troubleshooting for a faulty key, if the key continues to remain unresponsive, then try to reboot your device. Do this by clicking the power icon and selecting "Restart". If this doesn't clear the issue, then you will need to replace the keyboard. Click on this link to be redirected to our keyboard replacement guide.

Screen flickers, bleeds, or remains Blue

Device’s screen is malfunctioning.

Screen is bleeding

Screen bleeding and flickering are caused by two major factors. The first is having poor graphics. You can fix this by adjusting your brightness and display resolution. You do this by clicking on the settings icon and navigating to "Display". There you will be able to adjust your brightness and underneath it there will be an option called "Display Resolution." Adjust it to fit your current display screen. If the screen continues to bleed and flicker, you will need to replace it. Please refer to our screen replacement guide.

Blue screen of death

If your device has started to display the infamous “blue screen of death,” there are a few steps you can take to reverse the problem. Use the system recovery option in your device's BIOS. Do this by restarting your device. While the device is booting back on press "F12" rapidly. In the BIOS, only the arrow keys and enter keys work. Navigate to system recovery and follow as prompted to execute a recovery. After exiting the BIO, if "the blue screen of death" continues to appear, you will need to replace your SSD. Please refer to our SSD replacement guide.

Speakers produce no sound or distorted sounds

Device’s sound quality is poor.

Laptop speakers are muted or not selected as the output source

Your device’s speakers aren’t functioning properly? Such as it produces no sounds or the sound is distorted. The first line of troubleshooting would involve testing different audio sources. Play a video, and if sound is not produced, select another video to see if the audio output changes. If there still isn’t proper sound, check the device’s settings in case the sound is turned all the way down. To do this click on your settings icon and navigate to 'Sound'. There you will see a volume bar and make sure that is at 100. Secondly, check to see if your device is connected to external speakers, or turned off completely. You will be able to see this in "Bluetooth and Devices" tab in your system settings. If nothing has changed, then you are left with two possible reasons why your audio isn't working properly.

Speakers are dirty

A dirty speaker is responsible for distorted sounds, and can cause it so that a speaker produces no sounds at all. To clean the speakers you will need a cotton swab and a damped cloth. Scrub the damped cloth on the speakers to remove and excess build up. Then use the cotton swab to finish cleaning the ends of the speaker.

Speakers are broken

After cleaning the speakers, you still notice that your speakers are not functioning properly. Then you will need to replace them. Please refer to our speaker replacement guide.

Device is slow or does not run efficiently

Device takes a long time to do tasks.

Programs are slower than usual

An excess amount of programs on your device will cause it to run slower. To fix this close all currently running applications. Do this by either manually choosing “Close” or “Exit” on the applications, or by using a Task Manager to do so. If you are still having issues try to optimize your laptop. If closing all currently running applications did not solve the problem, then download an optimizer. After downloading an optimizer, open it and choose the option that lets you optimize your laptop. This will close all unnecessary background processes that may be affecting your laptops speed.

Not enough RAM

RAM on a computer plays a huge part in process time. The more RAM you have the faster your device will execute tasks. If both troubleshooting methods "Close all open applications" and "Optimize" did not help your device run faster. Then you have a problem of inefficient RAM. Please refer to our replacement page for RAM by clicking this link.
