Odds are the motherboard did take damage. The battery itself should not really be harmed by the water, but possibly the contacts are corroded. Typically water damage will effect the motherboard and it can take out random things which may or may not be immediately noticeable. They can even be very small things. I would follow the motherboard guide to take everything apart. Take a look at the battery and its connections. If you see any buildup on the battery possibly replacing it would work, but doubtful honestly. Look over the motherboard to see if there are any water stains which should look like very faint white circles on the board. If you see these you will want to replace the motherboard if the issue is of great concern to you. Otherwise you can just continue to use it until it with your problem until it dies out.
Leer másThere is no easy answer that I know of short of taking it apart. The bad thing about the trackpad is that there are a lot of components that cannot be separated and then put back together afterwards without special tools. I would take the c720 apart as much as you can until you can get a clear view of the underside of the trackpad (if it is held in by glue do not pry apart leave as is only remove screws and possibly tape if you are confident you can reseal the tape). Get some alcohol and clean it with a microfiber cloth both under and on top. Give it an hour to completely dry (overkill, but better to be safe) and then try clicking while it is still taken apart. If it is better but not perfect repeat until it is acceptable. Otherwise try searching around for a replacement which is most likely going to be the entire bezel and not just the trackpad itself.
Leer másIt is doable, but in most cases unless you are good with a soldering iron I would just replace the motherboard itself. MUCH easier. If you want to replace the DC jack you should get the model number of yours (should be written on the component somewhere when you have taken out the motherboard and can get a complete look at it) and search around on a site such as ebay for the correct one. Make sure it is the EXACT model. Again motherboards run pretty cheap online from $20 and up so I really strongly suggest you go that route instead.
Leer másAre you 100% sure it is not powering on and not the screen itself that is not powering on? Try hooking it up to another monitor or TV to see of it works. If this fixes it you need to replace the monitor. If not you are looking at a bad DC jack or video card most likely or ram. Either way these are all soldered onto the motherboard. It will need to be replaced. You can follow my guide for that.
Leer másmibolsa, SWAP is not quite the same thing as RAM although they do essentially the same thing from a higher level looking down, but swap is far slower and implemented with a storage device such as a hard drive or a solid state drive instead of memory. So this will help in some situations where the 2gb in my Chromebook is just not enough but not as quick as a physical ram module which is what was asked in this question. Not trying to respond rudely just wanted to make the distinction for any future readers. Your answer was helpful just not 100% the correct answer for this problem, but is a solution. However swap on an ssd is ill advised due to r/w count. So I would not do this.
