The battery is not replaceable, which is a shame, because you have a perfectly good phone, being crippled by a part that is guaranteed to die after 3 years or so. However, has anyone ever tried to replace the battery? If so, what happened, did it work?

@archwaymelodies not replaceable means they do not want us to do that ;-) Yep, definitely looks like a PITA to do but it is possible. since iFixit does not yet have a guide for it, check videos like this and this one as well as some pictures on here It is not directly about the battery but it will definitely get you there.
While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do. Yes you can replace it.I just did it but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't know what you're doing.I broke the backing trying to get it off.The first battery I ordered was to big and i had to order another one and a new backing.
