All other functions of the Home button seem to work. Was very careful with the cable opening it up but it's possible that reassembly damaged the connection (hard to position and snap in).
Is all hope lost??

unfortunately I think it is a damaged Touch ID connector which is not repairable sorry

i'll agree with @maximilian12 , have you checked your flex cables or bent them too far..?
