Why does my dell keep overheating

i just bought this refurbished dell laptop and it gets hot when doing a lot of tasks, it's based temperature is above normal, and extremely hot when playing light games it get so hot that it hurts to touch, I've checked online and people seem to have experienced the same issues, they say it's two things Vpro and intel MT, that to stop it you need to disable them both or do a clean install of windows yourself and not install them and i'm not sure how to do that, and the problem is i haven't found a place that states how to disable Vpro or intel MT if it's even possible, I don't want to do a clean install of windows as i already have things installed and don't want to lose them for something that isn't guaranteed, aside for this the laptops run very well, even when extremely hot, it hasn't shut down on me yet, though it's too early to say it won't later and i don't want to risk using it like this only for it to ruin the internals, i don't believe it is that the fan or that the thermal paste is bad, because i have seen people who said they have done all that and it still over heats, i think it's a software problem, i'm just not sure how to go about solving it.

the specs are

intel core i7 4600u

8gb ram

256ssd

please help, i could barely afford this laptop and i would hate to return it cuz it has all i want and more. thank you

Have you tried:

  1. Cleaning dust from the air vents, fan, etc.?
  2. Updating BIOS and drivers?
  3. Updating Windows?
  4. Running the DELL Diagnostic?
    1. Restart the computer.
    2. At the Dell logo, press the F12 key several times to enter the One-time Boot Menu.
    3. Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostics and press Enter.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions, and respond appropriately to complete the diagnostics.
  5. Check out DELL's web site:
