How can I fix non responsive iPod touch wheel?

How can I fix a very intermittent 4th Gen iPod Classic Touch Wheel? Can I open it up and just spray it with electronic contact cleaner ( Hosa D5S-6 CAIG DeoxIT 5% Spray Contact Cleaner on the way)?

DF Harrington you could but most likely it is a failed Click Wheel and will need to be replaced.
