iPod touch freezes all the time now

okay i dropped my iPod mouths ago and it has been working fine until now the screen just froze up so i waited till it died so i did then i charged so i let it charged 10 mins later i went to check on it and the back light was dim and touch screen was unresponsive and frozen so what do i do?this happens repeatedly and sometimes if i sit there and keeping pressing the home button sometimes it'll let me get to unlock my ipod but non of the apps work and then it freezes again
