This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the Dell Chromebook 11 CB1C13

Computer Won't Hold A Charge

The computer will not turn on or show any signs of powering on hold a charge

Broken Charging Cable

A faulty charging cable prevents the Dell Chromebook CB1C13 battery from receiving sufficient charge to power up. A malfunctioning charging cable also has a substantial risk of overheating the battery. A new charging cable can be found at any dell vendor or online electronics store.

Faulty Battery

The laptop will no longer stay turned on while unplugged despite being charged for a reasonable amount of time. This is usually the result of of an old or defective battery. In this case, replacement of the battery is necessary.

Keyboard Not Working

The keys on the keyboard are missing, not working or broken.

Laptop Won't Open/Close Properly

Upper part of the laptop will no longer move easily, or will no longer stay in place when opened or closed.

Fan Needs Cleaning

Back fan is spinning at a irregular speed,which prevents cooling of the hardware. If the fan is spinning at a slow rate, remove it from the computer and clean any covering debris with a air duster and cotton swab.

Fan Is Broken

Back fan is not spinning, it is not able to receive power from the battery in order to spin and cool the hardware. Remove the fan and replace it with a new functioning fan from a dell vendor.

Display Not Working

The screen will not display any information.

Faulty Screen

To diagnose your screen start by turning the computer off. Press and hold the D key while pressing the power button. This will start the Laptop LCD BIST. The screen will display multiple flashing colors. Look for lines, distortion, or any other video issues you have observed. The laptop will restart when the test is finished.
