Try uninstalling any applications you dont need/use because a bogged down hard drive can cause performance issues, but its more likely you installed some not so friendly. Press control+alt+delete to bring up task manager and see how much of your cpu and ram is in used when your not running anything.
Rick is describing a squeaking noise, typically a frayed belt doesn't cause this very common dryer problem. The drum sits on a set of rubber rollers attached to posts located on the back and occasionally the front of the dryer. These rollers (they look like an in-line skate wheel) sometimes need replacing, but more often than not you can just clean them up with a little steel wool and lithium grease.
