Screen adhesive in the kit works well just apply it like on the drawing and when you remove the stickers, the black adhesive part just stays on the junction and the screen is ready to be sticked again on the adhesive. Putting B-7000 works obviously well, but might make it harder to reopen the phone in the future.
I changed the battery myself around the 10th of January, but was not aware of the horrible battery automatic update from Google. So now, with a new battery (type G025J-B, 3050mAh), I get the message in the battery settings "Battery replacement recommended bla bla.." and the battery discharges quickly, let's say a full charge lasts only a day with normal use. It charges quickly like before though, that didn't change, but the battery percentage quickly drops, sometimes by 3/4% at a time! So it is difficult to know which batteries are impacted in a good or a bad way, it's just that Google is pretexting this update for security reasons, but it is just impacting most of the Pixel4a users. A shame... their Pixel4a was just too perfect, so they decided to apply that update to make people changing their phones.. and good luck to get a new battery, I'm sure that they will be soon no stock of batteries left.
I changed the battery with a new one (G025J-B 3050mAh) and the battery works and charges. But due to Google Android automatic update for the battery on January 6th, the battery icon/menu shows that it is recommended to upgrade it: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/an...
It's called "program performance" but it's more anti-performance! My battery lasts only a day and charging percentage can suddenly drops by 5%! It doesn't also charge when phone is powered off (percentage remains always the same). What a shame from Google, my Pixel 4a worked so well before, I don't know why they applied this stupid patch! A solution could be to rollback to an older version..
Changing this USB port took me a good 3 hours.. Not easy but feasible, thanks to that excellent tutorial. I reinstalled everything, plugged the screen back on, plugged the charger and... nothing. So I'm going to change the battery now. If still nothing happens, could it come from the charging circuit of the motherboard? Let's see first if replacing the battery works.
It's more 3 minutes than 2 minutes in hot water, in 2 minutes it's not getting hot enough I think. I used the combo iOpener + hair dryer for about 2 minutes and I could then insert a first opening pick easily. The first opening pick is the trickiest step, then if you go slowly and with patience around the screen with other opening picks, it works well.
