Major / aspirations
Hello, my name is Anamaria Gomez-Velez! I am a sophomore in speech language pathology at the University of Rhode Island. I fell in love with this major because it combines my love for helping people with my love for the human body and its many systems. I hope to finish my undergrad and move to a masters program and later a clinical doctorate so I can be a practicing speech pathologist, hopefully specializing with rehabilitative care.

-french (deemed fluent by state testing)

accomplishment
one of my proudest accomplishments is being a winner of two speech competitions and getting to present these speeches in front of my entire school

anything fixed?
I haven't fixed anything of note yet, but I'd like to learn how to fix up my computer or a camera as I love photography!

Organizations
at URI, I belong to the Multicultural Sisterhood P.I.N.K. This is a space for me to connect and allows me to form a community with individuals from many different unique backgrounds whom I can relate to.

Hobbies
When I have free time, I often fill my life with art! I love both creating and absorbing art around me, whether that be doodling in my free time, listening to music, browsing museums, searching through fashion archives, or playing my guitar. I spent my time in High school in as many art classes as I could, even taking classes at RISD, as well as joining my school's chamber choir and music honor society.

projects
I'd like to work on a project relevant to my work and / or hobbies as it will make the project all the more personal and enjoyable for me! Something to do with cameras or guitar amplifiers (for example) would be practical for me to know about as they would be used often.

fun fact
My mom and her sisters all have the same breed dog and since my family all lives together- I live with all three of them!
