If it leapt out of the socket without you doing much of anything, it probably isn’t damaged and can be reinserted … very … carefully. I was able to get mine back onto its hinge by carefully inserting it horizontally and working the metal tabs (the thick ones on the ends, not the delicate pins) until it snapped into place. Study the mechanism very carefully and compare to other ZIF sockets on the board to get a sense of how high the tab should be when in its horizontal position. That’s how high you should insert it—you are aiming for the ‘closed’ position of the socket. Be very gentle and don’t force anything.

I had this exact symptom (including popping sound from the left speaker and NO signs of life from the screens) and it was because the P12 ribbon cable wasn’t plugged in. (the tiny one on the lower right) It got hidden out of sight below the motherboard and I overlooked it.
