I have an inexpensive pendulum clock that came from my Dads estate. I would wind it up and a few days or so later it would stop. Took it to a repair shop to fix the problem. Was told it would be cheaper to replace. Well, I wanted to keep the clock and have it working. The clock is over 50 years old. I figured that over that time frame a lot of dust would have been deposited inside the cabinet. Thought about it for a bit while working on an old electronic organ. It was also dusty. Was cleaning all the connectors with electronic cleaning spray, it worked great. Decided to risk using it on the clock. If the function was not improved, it would just sit on the mantel. I sprayed the cleaning fluid inside the lock covering all of the mechanical parts I had access to. The spray evaporates very quickly and I believe provides sum form of lubrication. That was done over 10 years ago and the clock is still working as it was designed. I was careful to avoid spraying the cleaner on the clock case as I did not want to...

I looked a little closer at the connector and noticed that the negative connectors on the DC power connector wer only 2 spring like clips instead of a full collar. Since the replacement part arrived I decided to attempt an in-place fix. I did spend a little time looking at the replacement part before trying this. I found a round piece of steel, it was a "large" regular sewing needle. A paperclip will not work. A needle for sewing leather might work better since it would be stronger. I unplugged the computer and removed the battery for safety reasons -- did not want to short anything. I inserted the needle and used it to pry the clips, inside of the connector, towards the power pin. I did not apply a lot of pressure because I did not to brake the clips or move it out so much that it would short the positive pin when on...
