Tried 80% alcohol (windshield wiper), which had zero impact. Also tried hydrogen peroxide 3% (for cleaning wounds) just in case that works, also no impact. Acetone ultra strong nail polish remover also zero impact. Scraping with nails seems to work best of these things, but doesn't really work. Yet to try 99% alcohol :). Update (03/22/2017): At the moment I used acetone and then scraped, followed by using some oil to clean it a bit more - stuff we had in the house. Still not good, but almost OK.
Unless you're experienced, maybe aside two hours to take it apart, and one hour to put it together again. And some time to clean away glue residue - I had no good product for that, so that took at least an hour trying out acetone, scraping and oil to get it almost OK.
Some useful comments to the pictures, like the additional screw/antenna tape. I also discovered that the LCD was glued to the glass - which could have been step 11b.
I have also replaced the digitizer of an iPad, and compared to that - I would not rate this Asus job as EASY. At best medium. Think I spent less time on the iPad.
I organized the screws by plugging them into the styrofoam wrapping the came with my new screen bought on eBay. Thanks for all the tips.
I did 6 and 9 as part of 10. Due to tough to pull out connector in 6 and also a bit tough in 9. Be careful in 9 to not make the heavy black tape destroy plastic connector when pullig it off. Took me 1 hour to complete step 1-10.
The connection can be hard to pull due to little space. I waited until step 10 during unloosening the board. Then i discovered how easily the cmos connection next to the antenna came off.
Careful is not always enough. In my case ZIF fell off from LCD connector when re-attaching. Seems not broken...I solved it by applying pressure with some tape. Otherwise I experiecned no problems with wifi antenna or other sensitive areas, I was shallow in my prying and used a metal scalpel instead of plastic pryers. Thanks for great guide.
