Treating liquid damage is like treating a stain on your favorite shirt in that you want to address it immediately. If you were able to get the water out of the port fast enough using methods such as compressed air or some rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush, you should be ok. On some android phones today, they can detect water in the port and even notify you. My note 8 has this feature. I’ve gotten water in my port a few times and as a repair shop owner and technician, I’m confident my port is fine.
