iPhone X & Nikon CoolpixL840 won’t connect

I’ve downloaded both NIKON WMU & NIKON SNAP BRIDGE… neither will make my iPhone X connect to my CoolpixL840 . Yet the AppStore states both apps are compatible to my new  iPhone X.  The SNAP BRIDGE did show “searching…” but could not pick it up. What am I doing wrong? Fresh batteries & 64GB Sandisk Ultra UHS-I card in camera. Phone fully charged & WiFi on. Help!
