The T-CON board which sits between the heat exchangers within the main body can over heat damaging it. If your warranty has expired you'll need a new display assembly as the T-CON board is part of the assembly.
If Apple has stuck with the older display design with the T-CON logic within the lid this wouldn't have been such an issue as the display area is much cooler.
