So a while ago I sold a PC to a friend of mine who builds gaming rigs. Long story short the liquid cooling system a different friend had rigged up before I bought the PC off him ended up leaking all over friend No. 1's SSD. He left it for a while and when he came to run it nothing showed in device manager or BIOS. He said not to worry that it's just something you come to expect in that line of work, regardless I've felt bad about it ever since but didn't really have the know how to attempt a repair and he wouldn't take my money. Since then I've had almost 3 years hands on training doing an electronics apprenticeship and am pretty confident in board diagnostics and fault finding so since my friend still has the hard drive I was wondering whether it'd be worth me trying to fix? Could it be something as simple as cleaning the board with solvent to get rid of any liquid? Or would it be likely whatever coolant my mad scientist of a mate put in there (think he told me it was apple scented air freshener or something...) has cooked the tiny micro components on the board or even corroded the connections? Thanks in advance!
