I've suffering of this problem for a few months now. I've been listening with left bud only or pushed the connector. Should've googled the problem earlier because the foil trick actually seems to work!! Though it seems that my s3 now constantly thinks that the headphones are connected so I wont be able to play any sound through my speakers. But a choice between properly working headphone jack or a crappy speaker is a no brainer at least for me :D
