This guide will teach you how to replace the gaskets in the Holley 4 barrel carburetor. The gaskets require replacement if the carburetor starts leaking gas or sucking air. You can tell when the gaskets require replacement when your car starts running rough. In order to complete this repair, you will need to purchase a rebuild kit for your specific carburetor. Be aware of the gas that could be released from the carburetor as you take it apart. This can be harmful to your skin and eyes, so make sure you take the carburetor apart in a well-ventilated room.

    • Remove the spacer from the side of the carburetor.

    • If you need to, use a flat head screwdriver and carefully pry the spacer off of the carburetor.

    • Remove the six 2.5 mm hex screws from the secondary metering block.

    • If you need to, use the small flat head screwdriver that will fit the head of the hex screws in order to remove the screws.

    • Using a flat head screwdriver, remove the thin gasket from the side of the carburetor.

    • Remove the eight 20 mm Phillips screws from the bottom plate of the carburetor.

    • Then, carefully remove the gasket from the bottom plate. Use a flat head screwdriver, if needed, to pry the gasket off of the plate.
