Hi @zain1

According to the specifications it uses DDR3L 1600 not DDR3 1600 memory. (see p.42 of the owner manual linked below).

DDR3L is low voltage ram (1.35V) and DDR3 is a higher voltage ram (1.5V). If the system is designed for DDR3L it might work if DDR3 is installed but it might not also. You would have to try it and see. Also it is best not to have two different ram module types inserted. Keep them all the same type.

Installing DDR3 shouldn't damage the motherboard. It's just that it may not work. It's best to stick with what the manufacturer uses.

Here's the owner manual. See p.13 to view the procedure to remove/replace the memory.

If you thinking of upgrading the memory, (I've seen online for your model that 16GB i.e. 2 x 8GB modules work even though Dell specifies max is 8GB i.e. 2 x 4GB or 1 x 8GB) also consider upgrading the HDD to a sata SSD to get a real performance boost. The SSD needs a 9.5mm spacer (available with some SSDs) to be placed under the SSD so it's at the correct height in the drive bay to line up with the motherboard's sata connector. SSDs are slimmer than HDDs
