Identification and Background
The Sonos Play:1 was released on October 2013 by an American company called Sonos founded in 2002 by John Macfarlane, Tom Cullen, and Trung Mai. The creators of this device also designed other wireless technologies. Sonos Play:1 is their most compact wireless speaker that may be used by any Sonos controller. The Sonos wireless system creates a Sonos network using either a wired line (Ethernet) or a wireless connection (WiFi). All Sonos devices use internal speakers to amplify the sound from an external device using the Sonos application. The Sonos Play:1 may be used on any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer through the Sonos app. The Sonos Play:1 model number is model PLAT1US1BLK.
