Troubleshooting
- Philips Somneo isn’t turning on
- Philips Somneo not making sound
- Philips Somneo Radio Not Working
- Philips Somneo morning light isn’t working
Background
The Philips Somneo is an ergonomic wake-up light, designed to encourage a natural wake-up, improving mood and decreasing fatigue throughout the day. It features a large, touch display, which simulates a sunrise through adjustable light levels, meant to encourage an easy and energetic wake-up. In addition to the light, a selection of calming, natural wake-up noises can be selected from, or derived from a built-in FM 4r5radio. The sound’s volume can be adjusted, and increases with time, allowing for a natural waking up, not a sudden jolt. These features could be used as a nightlight, or as a normal radio, navigated by the buttons integrated on the display. The device has sold over two million units worldwide, targeting those with a desire to wake easier and more rested. It is listed at 219.99 on Philips website, but sells for cheaper from other online retailers, such as Amazon. Many product reviews can be found in online magazines, with largely favorable reviews. In-site reviews overall have similarly favorable opinions, though some critique its similarity to previous models in the family. Its variety of features have remained the same, with no significant improvement to brightness or wake-up sounds. Perhaps in response to critiques regarding its similarity, the next model introduces an app, however that itself has met with mixed reviews.
Identification
The Philips Somneo is easily identified by its unique shape. Its screen follows a special conic shape with a hole in the center of the device, as well as a light that blooms all throughout the screen when on. This is more easily identifiable than its counterpart wake up light, which is a cone that is in the reverse direction. This separate device has no hole in the center, as well as a screen that outwardly rolls over the top resembling a flashlight. This Philips Somneo also has a multitude of capabilities that its counterpart doesn’t possess. These include more wake-up sounds, relaxation sounds, a midnight lamp, phone charging capability, a back-up power source, a speaker, a longer sunrise time range, and a power outage feature.
