Hi John,

As @jellyfish2 mentioned, first thing to do is recheck your work. It's not at all uncommon to not get those FPC connectors plugged in 100% and if that happens then whatever function is supposed to be going through it won't work; in your case it's the touch screen function. Here's the connector you want to check.

Block Image

That's the one for the digitizer. Unplug it and look at it carefully with a bright light and a magnifying glass. Check it for any bent or broken pins, as well as any kind of dust or debris that may have gotten into the connector and is blocking pins from making contact. As a matter of fact, it appears that problem happens often enough that there's actually a warning in the guide about it.

Assuming everything looks good, clean both sides of the connector, motherboard and cable, with 90% or higher concentration isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Plug it back in and retest. If it works, button it all back up and call it a day; otherwise it's possible there's an issue with the replacement screen. Unfortunately the only way to tell that is to try another screen, so if you still have the original and it's still functional enough for testing, then plug that screen back in and verify whether the touch screen works there or not.

So try out those suggestions then get back to us and let us know what you found.

If this is a new problem you'll want to try and do a hard reset of the phone to make sure it's not a frozen app or a software problem, but if it has no response to the touch screen whatsoever that would tend to indicate the digitizer has failed and you would need to replace the screen to fix it.
