Some keys are not working after keyboard replacement

Hello everybody I am having a problems with my Macbook Pro after replacing the keyboard. Some keys are not working for example the F1 and the back slash key does not works and the volume down key got stuck not physically but after 3-5s work it works but the volume keys are not working than I mean after I press once the volume down key turns the volume all down and after 20s-30s I can only turn it up via function keys. This was the first problem. The second is when I turn my macbook on holding the option key it does nothing but in system the option key works.I tried smc reset but I could not perform the NVRAM.

Did you plug the keyboard connector all the way in?

- de

Yes the keyboard connector is pluged all the way in.

@bisy Why was the keyboard replaced in the first place ?

- de

Because it was spoiled coffe on it and the keys wouldn't work.

@bisy The coffee spill pretty much answers your question. There’s most probably corrosion occurred to the zif connector on the logic board when the old keyboard got shorted by the spill. Either that or worse the IC taking care of keyboard circuits. You can try brushing carefully the zif connector on the logic board with >90% Isopropyl alcohol and see if that helps, but it’s just an attempt that may not change much either. Without being able to see connector’s condition under a microscope it’s hard to figure out what the condition may be.

Well I will try it thank you for the answer but while I'm booting to macOS i couldn't perform any command I mean command+r or nvram reset or go to the startup manager I tried external wired and wireless keyboard but no result.

@bisy Best thing to do would be to try an ultrasonic cleaning of the board, it might be coffee reached other board parts and it's starting chewing up metal. If that's not an option, I'd suggest to try at least a hand clean, you can follow this guide for basic guidance:

you have some circuits shorted or lost due to corrosion. Clear very carefully as stated by @arbaman

>>> I tried external wired and wireless keyboard

Due to the short any command is handled by the 'system' differently.

But before the keyboard replacement it worked.

If you spilled something on it. Wouldn’t it be in more places then just the keyboard?

Only on the keyboard because everything works perfect and I run the diagnostics and there was only a keyboard error.
