Hi,

Try taking a picture and downloading it to a computer to check if the picture is OK. I realize that you cannot”see” what you are taking.

If the picture is just a black image then you have a problem with the camera’s motherboard or CCD image sensor or both.

If you get a “good” picture then most likely the LCD display is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Canon PowerShot SX120 IS Screen Replacement guide which may be of some help.

Replacement display screens are available online. Just search for Canon PowerShot SX120IS LCD screen part to get results for suppliers of the part.

help me! I followed the steps to replace the lcd screen. The new screen is bright and beautiful. However when I close the case, inserting the battery into my canon does not respond. When I use an external charger attached to the IN port, the device receives commands and lights up the screen to browse images normally

If it works Ok when the charger is connectd but not on the battery only, you have to check the camera's battery connections in the battery holder as they may be corroded etc or not enough tension on the battery or even the battery compartment lid switch (if there is one) may not be operating when the lid is closed.

incorrect! When I removed the case, I inserted 2 batteries and closed the cover, then used a voltmeter to measure the 2 primary power pins on the mainboard, it showed 2.95 volts. So eliminate the problem of loose cables! I can not understand!

If you had mentioned this in your first comment I wouldn't have answered the way I did.

Apart from the faulty LCD screen, was the camera working OK on the battery before you replaced the screen?

You may need the service manual to find out what's happened .

all worked fine before i replaced the screen. However, the new screen is also defective. so I reattached the old screen. However, when reassembled it does not work without battery power. Can only be tested by attaching an external source. Thanks

Dear Sir

I repaired my canon sx120is. It worked on 2 AA batteries.

DCDC Assy circuit has blown fuse. The fuses are labeled T and L. There are 2 T fuses and 1 L fuse. The cluster of 2 fuses near the positive terminal of the battery are both blown. I don't have a blowtorch. so I rubbed each fuse with a layer of molten lead. I just want to try it. As a result, it worked.

A friend in the electronic repair support group in Vietnam, named Tam Mai, showed me the name of the fuse.

Thank you very much

@dangoc that is Awesome! Great job. It would be great if you could create a guide on how you fixed this. Take the pictures you have and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has a device with the same issues as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
