Device Will Not Power On
The device does not respond and will not turn on.
Device is Not Being Turned On Correctly
Hold the home/power button (the lower button of the two buttons on the right side of the device) until the device turns on.
Charging/Charger Issues
Ensure that the charging cord is not broken or corroded. If the charger is damaged, try an alternative compatible charger. Then, try to power on the device while it is charging.
Battery and/or Other Components are Not Connected
Check to make sure battery and all components were properly connected during reassembly.
Battery is Faulty
Follow the battery replacement guide.
Screen is Broken
Device is turning on but screen is damaged. Follow the front screen assembly replacement guide.
Motherboard is Damaged
If other options did not solve the issue, the motherboard may be damaged. Follow the motherboard replacement guide.
Shortened Battery Life
Battery drains faster than expected.
Battery Draining Functions are Often Used
You should not leave too many applications open in the background, especially the Music and GPS apps, which require the most battery power. To close applications:
1. Start on the "Apps" screen and select "Recent apps."
2. Choose an app and then tap "Close" to end that singular app, or choose "CLOSE ALL" to end all applications.
Battery Saving Options are Not Enabled
The power saving mode lengthens the battery life of your device, but forfeits functionality to most applications.
1. Start at the home screen.
2. Hold the bottom physical button and choose the "power saver mode."
Brightness is Too High
Set the device at a lower brightness. To lower the brightness:
1. Start at the home screen and tap the "Brightness" icon.
2. Rotate the bezel to reach the desired brightness.
Faulty Battery
If all other solutions did not solve the issue, consider replacing the battery with our battery replacement guide.
Unable to Complete Activation Process
While trying to pair the device to a phone, the device will not fully connect.
Initial Connection Has Not Been Made
Make sure the smartphone and smartwatch are powered on. Verify that you have downloaded the Samsung Gear App on your smartphone and that the Bluetooth for both devices is on.
1. Open the app and choose the “Gear S3 Frontier/Classic."
2. Match the passkey and tap "OK" on both devices.
3. Continue through pages to set up your account and until device activation is complete.
Devices Do Not Stay Connected
The connection is not being sustained by both devices, resulting in frequent drop offs in the watch’s functionality. Turn off the Bluetooth connection on the smartwatch and restart it.
Low Smartwatch Battery
The watch may not have enough battery life to complete this action. Charge the watch with the compatible Samsung adapter that came with your device.
Unable to Send or Receive Messages/Calls
Device Can’t Send or Receive SMS Messages.
Bluetooth Pairing Issues
On the paired phone, navigate to your Bluetooth settings. Disconnect and remove your device from the phone. Pair your device to your phone.
Gear Manager App Issues
Navigate to your phone’s app settings. Select the Gear Manager app. Clear cache/data and start the app again.
No Data Connection
Look at your your carrier's coverage map to determine if you have cellular data/service in that location.
No Audio or Distorted Audio
Audio does not play or sounds incorrect
Sound is Turned Off
Audio may be set off or very low. Tap the “Settings” icon on the home screen and navigate to the sounds and vibrations menu by scrolling, then tapping. If you are having issues with media volume, scroll and tap “Volume." If you are having issues with ringer volume, scroll and tap “Ringtones." Rotate the bezel clockwise to increase audio volume.
Do Not Disturb Mode is Enabled
Do not disturb may be turned on, muting incoming notifications. Tap the “Settings” icon on the home screen and navigate to the device menu by scrolling, then tapping. Scroll and tap “Do not disturb”. Rotate the bezel and tap to select desired setting.
Speaker is Damaged
Audio sounds distorted, airy, or fuzzy. Follow the speaker replacement guide.

Very helpful, thanks. My alarms are syncing when I’ve asked it not to, and then the alarm on the watch wont turn off, I need to power down the watch to get it to stop. Any ideas? Do you think factory reset might work?

I was able to replace my draining battery without any problems. My power button doesn’t turn on the device. (Issue before I changed the battery) The battery is new and its at 100%. Both buttons make the traditional click sound when you press them. The top button seems to work. When the S3 Frontier is on the charger, I can click the top button and the screen will display the battery percentage. I have held both buttons at the same time while on and off the charger. Any suggestions would be great.

Exactly the same issue, except on a S3 Classic. We're you able to get it up and running?

After receiving updates the screen size increased to the point you can read it. You can't reduce the size without rebooting and it happens a couple times a day

Hello. When I swipe down for quick settings, it is not working. So basically my quick settings is not working. When I reset the watch, it tells me to follow the steps where the quick settings opens but after that it won't open.

My watch displays the message, “Well done! That was a great workout” instead of the time when I lift my wrist or even after just taking it off of the charger the first thing in the morning when there was no workout or even any movement. The battery life is good and the bluetooth connects with with my phone but the watch no longer displays texts or emails.

I Have a Samsung Gear S3, Frontier, and in the last 3 months or so I am getting a distorted screen every now and then. like the screen display is only partial because numbers are huge and the watch clock. it happens to all apps. I end up shutting it off and then back on. I do this like 3 or 4 times a day.
Did get a virus? what is going on with this watch? or did I download an app, that it cannot handle?

Whenever I get to far from the watch I have to go through this lengthy process of rebooting the watch which then loses all the information that it previously had? Why is this and is there a setting to keep this from happening all the time? My old smart watch would automatically join back to the phone with no problems.

Watch has become very “buggy.” Changing from power saver to normal and reverse have been requiring restart. Randomly freezing when doing a simple function. Restart doesn't always help.

3 weeks ago, after a 2 years use, the screen started flickering, at some point showing nothing, i was thinking the screen is gone, must be replaced ..i let it rest in a drawer for a couple of days, tried to reconnect to the phone, the bluetooth connection was unstable, going off every 20 seconds or so( the symptom still persist)..but hey, the screen stopped flickering:). …also some issues with charging, sometimes it does not charge, the red led blinks…..the signs are there, he screams to be replaced:))

when I’m cycling, with my activity turned on I’m notified each mile I accomplished the time and time to be expected, all well, but when I stop and start back up my watch signals to press the back button to resume but does’nt resume it stays on pause ,I keep pressing the back button and nothing.
