ASUS VivoTab Note 8 Troubleshooting
Use this page to troubleshoot problems with your ASUS VivoTab Note 8.
When attempting to use the stylus provided with the device, you experience issues.
Both of the following problems may be fixed by restarting the device, however it won't always work. If the pen is not responding, try using your finger on the touchscreen. If your finger does not affect the touchscreen, then there is a problem with the touchscreen.
Touchscreen does not work
Neither the touchscreen nor the pen work.
Go to device manager, then Human Interface Devices. Disable and re-enable all the drivers. If there is an update available, then install it. After checking everything, restart.
Pen does not work
The touchscreen works, however the pen does not.
Go to device manager, then Human Interface Devices. If you have the Wacom driver there, uninstall it, then reboot with an internet connection to reinstall the drivers.
Unable to access BIOS
Unable to boot into Windows
You're unable to access BIOS through conventional Windows methods.
Reset the device by holding down the power button for ten seconds. After the screen goes from completely black to slightly back-lit, press and hold the power button and volume down button simultaneously until the BIOS menu appears on the screen. Be sure to do this before the booting process begins, or this method will not work.
Unable to access BIOS before bootup
Upon attempting to access BIOS prior to booting into Windows, nothing happens.
If this is the case, the best solution is to replace the motherboard. A guide on how to do that can be found here: Motherboard Replacement Guide
