iPod 4th Generation or Photo Battery Replacement

30 Minuto

Easy

Mi Problema

After seeing iFixit's great Halloween video 'iPod ReAnimation! Adding Flash Storage and a New Battery to a 4th Gen iPod', I decided to bring some life back into my old 4th Gen iPod.

Mi Solución

Very easy. Compared to fixing iPhones, this was so easy. The hardest part was sourcing the correct SSD.

Mi Consejo

If you want to bring life back into an old 4th Generation iPod, watch iFixit's video and look at their guides. I purchased the replacement battery from iFixit and the SSD from Amazon (64GB KingSpec 1.8-inch IDE CF 50-pin SSD Solid State Disk (MLC)). Battery was easy to replace. SSD was even easier - connects to the iPod without the need for an adaptor.

My iPod was just sitting in the bottom of my drawer because the battery was dead. I watched iFixit's video and thought it would be nice to bring it back to life with a new battery and the addition of a SSD.

My iPod was originally 40gb. It now shows 60gb of available storage and it boots up in no time thanks to the SSD.
