Home Button Repair - Now no touchscreen

I performed the home button replacement on my friends Verizon iphone 4 and now the touch screen is not responding. I know when I was reassembling the screen to the chassis, the two ribbon cables that you have to feed through got bound after I had already tightened down all the side screws/washers... so I had to pull them through the rest of the way with a little force. Is it possible that the cables got damaged in doing this? If so, does that mean I have to buy a screen/digitizer replacement? Thanks in advance!

Even though it appears that only the Digitizer Cable was damaged. You need to get Front Screen Assembly (Front Glass, Digitizer, LCD Display) one piece for iPhone 4 CDMA (Verizon or Sprint).

"so I had to pull them through the rest of the way with a little force

Don't do that next time, ALWAYS remove the screws instead of forcing !

You would loose maybe 10mins but now you lost 200$ !

"Is it possible that the cables got damaged in doing this"

Yes, of course, this should have been done carefully.

"If so, does that mean I have to buy a screen/digitizer replacement"

First check whether the cables are damaged or not, and check if you can repair them easily or if you have to buy new.

Last, check if this is the problem, it sometimes happen we trust something is faulty but finally it's not.

Yes, you tore your ribbon cable. However, you won't need to spend $200 to fix it, as The tinker said. Just oder another screen, or send in your iPhone for repair. Here is a link if you are interested in having us do it. And yes (although I think you already know this), the LCD Display Screen and Glass Digitizer Touch Screen are one unit and INSEPERABLE on the iPhone 4. Although, if you purchase them both seperately and install that way, you could save money on the next repair by only having to replace one =D. Food for thought...
