This question is for Thermador wall oven MCB265

This wall oven was manufactured circa 1990 and it still works electronically- the problem is solely with the operation of the oven door. The first problem it developed was it does not close all the way - it sticks out from the top about an inch. We were told it was the hinge assembly or the door bracket and the parts are unavailable. Now the door has developed a worse problem: when you open the door it does not stop parallel to the floor - it sinks lower and threatens to fall off entirely!

Is there a way to find out if there are substitute parts that will work to fix this? Thank you!

we had the exact same problem. Also called in an appliance repair guy….spent $90 for him to tell us he cannot fix it or locate any parts. Not quite sure what to do. Do you think contacting Thermador directly would help?

Hi @wbee

Here's the parts list for a Thermador MCB265 range/microwave oven that may help.

Locate the wanted parts in the parts list to find the manufacturer's part number listed with it.

I realize that it states that the manufacturer no longer makes these parts but if you search online for Thermador (insert wanted part number) you will get results for suppliers e.g. for the left door hinge roller, search for Thermador 14-11-607, for the hinge bracket cable search for Thermador 14-12-462 etc.(examples only)

Hi @thomas52444

You could try contacting Thermador and check under Owner Support what options may suit your requirements.

It seems that they use either their own technicians or an authorized service provider who you would think would be able to fix the problem. They also specify that they use OEM replacement parts, so you could check if they have what you think you need first.

Depending on the cost it may be worth a try.

Unfortunately there's no service information online e.g. service manuals, wiring diagrams etc regarding Thermador products so if there's an electrical problem and not a mechanical one it may be difficult to find out exactly what the problem is, unless it was an obvious component failure and even then you'd have to verify whether it just failed or if something else caused it to fail.
