Screen cable of MacBook Pro 15

Hi everyone, I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)

When I open the screen more than 45 degrees, it becomes black, so I disassembled my device myself because I don't trust these stores and their prices are exaggerated, and I noticed that there is an issue or breakage in this

Any solutions or suggestions?

First off the cable in question is the backlight which is a different cable than one you’ve indicated here. Sadly this is a known issue in this series, most was the 13” model which is described here Long Version - How to Fix Flexgate by Changing Cable Only. For most this is just not a feasible solution, that only leaves replacement of the full display assembly.

Sadly you missed the extended repair program where Apple was replacing some displays, Apple never acknowledged the 15” as having the same issue (which it did). They did in newer systems lengthen the cable a bit to remove the issue. But alas grit can also do you in as the grit would slowly erode the protective layers. This is still a problem in even the newest systems. This is mostly an issue in dry aired places where the grit is sharp and wind blown.

But I noticed that I didn't see any breaks in the cable you mentioned and the only thing I saw broken was the one in the picture, could this be the cause of the issue?

@coolchahincool - if you think that replace it, this cable would only fail from someone not being careful. It doesn’t move unlike the four display cables.

@danj Is it possible that it's the cable that's causing the issue, not the flexgate? ,Since I am replacing this cable, you may be more knowledgeable and may have encountered the same issue with this cable.

@coolchahincool - FlexGate is a failed ribbon cable. The cable which connects the MLB to the T-CON board very rarely fails on its own, whereas the constant flexing of the other cables is a common occurrence. As I stated if the cable hasn’t been touched it likely is fine, only when the system has gotten a liquid spill or mishandling have I seen it fail, which is a rarity.

The symptom you mentioned (the display cuts out when opening it beyond 45°) is a tell-tale sign of the Flexgate issue, as mentioned by Dan in the comments. It's very unlikely that the display cable you're pointing out is the cause of the issue. It's much more likely that the issue is due to damage to the cables shown in the attached picture. Unfortunately Dan is right in saying the only feasible fix for most people is to replace the display (the other fix involves micro soldering new traces onto the damaged cable). Good luck!
