Dropped MacBook: Black screen but works on external display

I've dropped my macbook on the floor 🤦‍♂️ and its edge of the screen got damaged (see attached img). After dropping despite the damage in the corner it was still completely functional but after another 24hrs the macbook screen went black (not completely black because when it boots up i can see very dimmed bright apple logo).

The macbook works on external display.

I've tried to restart NVRAM/PRAM but without any effect.

Do i have any affordable options instead of screen replacement assuming i can live with the damage in the corner of the screen?

I've ordered required screwdrivers and will try to plug in and out the lcd cable, hope it works 🤞

Sounds like the display has failed due to the damage. It would require some pretty advanced skills to repair the display itself. At this point, the cheapest option would be to continue to use an external display. Otherwise, you'll want to look into display replacement options through Apple or a third party. Good luck!

Thanks for your answer 🙏 Do you think it's worth trying to plug out & in the lcd cable or that surely won't solve the problem?

It's worth a shot! But my best guess is that it won't fix the issue. Good luck!

thanks! i'll give it a try 🤞

One more question please. Can i open the lower back and try plug in and out straight away? Or maybe i need to go every step as detailed in Reemplazo de la pantalla de MacBook Pro 14" 2021 screen replacement guide? I'd rather avoid unplugging battery board, trackpad etc

@ares12355 You should disconnect the trackpad cable and the battery first in order to prevent damage to the display. I'm pretty sure that if you disconnect the display while the battery is connected it could potentially damage the display board.
