A1286 Keyboard and trackpad compatibility

I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro Unibody A1286 which has suffered a liquid spill in the past. Once dried out all the keyboard (still sticky) keys still work but no backlight and the trackpad click (still audible click) is no longer responsive. I have to use an external mouse or tap touch on the pad.

After the spill and dry out I had no display either but refreshing the PRAM cured that and the display came back to normal. So the MBP is usable still but has a sticky non backlite keyboard and the trackback click does not work.

Question is, does anyone here have any suggestions on how to fix these existing components. If there is no fix I'm am quite happy replacing the dis-functional parts myself problem is I cannot find a suitable 15 " MBP Unibody replacement top cover with keyboard and trackpad but I can find the keyboard and trackpad from a 17" MBP unibody of the same year model. So the next question is, will the trackpad and keyboard from the same year model 17" Macbook Pro fit my mid 2009 Macbook Pro 15" model.

The upper case with keyboard is readily available with a web search. Here are the parts that will work for you, I've found that the last number results in better pricing: 661-5244, 661-5481, 661-4948, 661-5854

Just adding an FYI in case anyone else finds this in a search. The cheapest and easiest repair here by far would be to replace only the trackpad (assuming the problem is with the trackpad itself), which is a relatively simple repair- remove back cover, battery, and then a few screws to get the old trackpad out. You can pull the key caps off the sticky keys, and clean the scissor mechanisms underneath which should get those keys to feel normal again. I don't think the backlight can be repaired however.

Replacing the upper case is a pretty tough repair, since all the components of the computer are basically fixed to that upper case, and must be removed step by step.

I have 17'' MBP lying around and I stil want to know if the keyboard will fit in a 15' MBP. They are different languages and I would like to switch them.
