I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro Unibody A1286 which has suffered a liquid spill in the past. Once dried out all the keyboard (still sticky) keys still work but no backlight and the trackpad click (still audible click) is no longer responsive. I have to use an external mouse or tap touch on the pad.
After the spill and dry out I had no display either but refreshing the PRAM cured that and the display came back to normal. So the MBP is usable still but has a sticky non backlite keyboard and the trackback click does not work.
Question is, does anyone here have any suggestions on how to fix these existing components. If there is no fix I'm am quite happy replacing the dis-functional parts myself problem is I cannot find a suitable 15 " MBP Unibody replacement top cover with keyboard and trackpad but I can find the keyboard and trackpad from a 17" MBP unibody of the same year model. So the next question is, will the trackpad and keyboard from the same year model 17" Macbook Pro fit my mid 2009 Macbook Pro 15" model.
