Engine light is on

Yhannes, the "check engine" light is an indication that your car's onboard computer has detected a problem. Using something called an OBD-II scanner, the light can indeed be turned off, but if the problem is still present it will just come back on again.

You need to determine what problem is being reported and fix the issue; after that the light will either go away on its own or will not come back on after being turned off.

Usually disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes will clear the error, but as I said, without correcting the problem it will just come back on again.

You can buy an inexpensive bluetooth scanner online for under $10 USD that will hook up to a free app on your phone; a popular one is called "Torque". Here in the US, you can take your car to any auto parts store where they will connect their scanner up to your car and give you a copy of the trouble codes for free.

The codes will usually start with the letter "P" and have four numeric digits, something like P0134. You can then look up the code online to find out what it means. In this totally random value I plucked out of thin air, it would translate to:

P0134 diagnostic trouble code is an indication that there is a problem with the oxygen sensor that is positioned before the catalytic converter and on the engine bank that houses cylinder #1.

That sort of information will tell you where to start in looking for the problem with your car.
