How to remove Nintendo Switch OLED screen

I'm trying to replacement my Switch OLED screen, but can't figure out how to remove the broken one from my console. I am applying heat and using a suction cup to lift the screen away, but I can't fet it to budge. Any suggestions?

Hi @zle896,

I'm reading from your post that you're not trying to replace the entire front frame, but rather just the OLED panel itself, right? If that's the case, you need a different guide than what @cs_harris pointed out to you; this one shows you how to remove the display panel from the frame.

It sounds to me like you're close; the heat and suction cup just need the addition of an opening pick; anything thin and slightly flexible will do the job, like a guitar pick or even a small putty knife might do in a pinch. Basically there's adhesive glue all the way around the edge that's holding it down; you've got to get a small opening in it with the suction cup then use an opening pick to slice through the adhesive on all four sides as described in the guide. Once the adhesive tape has been defeated, then the glass will come up.

Best of luck; let us know what happens!

Yes, I'm just trying to replace the screen. The adhesive is really stubborn, and doesn't soften up at all. I've tried using the iOpener for hours and still no yield. I've resorted to heating it up using a gardening seedling heater mat. No idea if it will work.

So it took a lot of work, and I was able to remove the screen from the console. It needed several cycles of heating and pulling. I broke the plastic handle on my suction cup tool, and I replaced it with a metal chopstick, which allowed me to get a more even pull on the component.

Turns out that even after replacing the screen, there's still no output to the display, but it works when docked. Seems like I've still got some troubleshooting to do.
