Help I accidentally disconnected the Tmds cable

I was working on it and the grounding cable or something got torn off of the board and the frame around it came off halfway.

I could probably solder it but this came off and i need help. not disconnected. it did not damage the board though so it may not be as bad

Ouch!

You pulled off the entire connector from the logic board and looking at the image of the logic board you pulled off a few traces as well with the connector.

We might be able to run down a replacement connector but patching the logic board will take some doing. Do you have a friend or know of anyone who has deeper soldering skills as this will take that and working off of a set of schematics and boardview drawings trace back the damaged pad lines to put in the needed patch lines.

While I love the look of this iMac this may end up being a costly endeavor. And given its age may not be the wisest investment.

I don’t know anyone who is really good at soldering, but I could get help at an apple store, as I asked and they said that they could as long as they either have parts or don’t need parts

Well, I've got some bad news for you the Apple Store won't fix your system as the don't have the needed part and at best they would only replace the complete logic board if it was still within the systems they service and in this case the 15" G4 iMac system has long since been removed from their list Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty you'll find it in the obsolete listing.

To be clear this is basically is a sales gimmick to get you into the store to sell you a new system. So don't be fooled. Thats not to say thats a bad idea its just a matter on what is your needs. Maybe a used system is a better investment like a used 2012/13 iMac or maybe even a Mac Mini if you have a workable monitor already.

Look at an independent Mac repair shop maybe they can help you.

@Roman - O, I think I have a way for you to save your system! Here's the needed logic board 15" iMac logic board 700 MHz, Apple 820-1257-A They go for aprox $50 USD used.

That is by far the cheapest way to get your system going!
