air bubbles in refrigerator water line

Hello.  I have a 2016 Kenmore Elite side by side.  Water dispenser and ice work fine.

The problem is air in the water.  I changed the filter and purged several gallons.  Air bubbles are very prominent.  The odd thing is that with the filter out there are still are air bubbles.

I had the city come out to test outside line...

all clear.  I also noticed the back of the fridge was noisy when dispensing water so I replaced the water inlet valve.  Still noisy and still air bubbles.  There is also a dual water inlet valve though yet to replace that one.  Thoughts?

Hi @davearcher ,

What is the model number of the refrigerator?

FYI - i melted ice cubes overnight and the result… no cloudy/air bubbles… clear!

Must be something with just the dedicated line to the water dispenser then?

model# 106.51713411

Solución Elegida

Hi @davearcher ,

Were there any air bubbles in the ice cubes before they melted?

If not then you may have to replace the dual water inlet valves and check what happens.

According to a supplier of parts for the refrigerator the tech sheet is part number W10679979 so maybe using this you can test the water dispensing in diagnostic mode (see Steps #25 and #46) and see if the result is any different to normal operation. Just trying to eliminate any other possibilities.

No air bubbles in cubes before/after melting.

The dual water inlet valve is significantly noisier (thought it was/hoped it was the single one which I replaced as it appears to be a bit easier). Will tackle the dual one next… hoping that solves it.

Thank you for the tech sheet.
