Hi @anderspers46712

The laptop doesn't have a separate CMOS battery. This battery is also known as the RTC (Real Time Clock) battery

The RTC battery voltage (RTC_VCC) is supplied by the main battery from pin 3 of the battery connector.

Here's an image from the schematic for a Lenovo Yoga 920 that shows the battery connections.

So, if it is not working i need to replace the main battery in this case? I replaced the main battery about 6 months ago and it did work for at least 5 months. The main abttery also seems to be fully charged and when using the Lenovo support site and making a check of the battery status it says that the battery is working

It stopped working after it has not been used for about a week

Regards

Anders

@anderspers46712

Try a power refresh and check if that works by disconnecting the main battery cable from the motherboard and then press and hold the laptop's Power button for a full 30 seconds then release it

See Step.4 of the ifixit battery replacement guide

Then reconnect the battery, reassemble the laptop, connect the charger and check.

If it starts OK after this when you said "....making a check of the battery status..." do you mean you created a battery report?

If not create the report and then compare the Design Capacity value verses the Full Charge capacity value in the report.

For a good new battery they should nearly be the same.

If the Full Charge value is <50% of the Design Capacity value the battery may be faulty. A good battery should hold its charge for more than 1 week

Hi,

Looking through the hardware and maintenance manual it doesn't appear to have one.

What are you trying to do by removing the CMOS battery?

Have you tried using a paperclip and pressing the Novo button to get into the Recovery area or BIOS?

If still no good, try disconnecting the main battery from the systemboard (see the manual - link above - you don’t have to remove it, just disconnect it), then press and hold the laptop’s Power button for 30 seconds then release and then reconnect the main battery, close up the laptop and connect the charger, check if the laptop starts to charge, wait a minute or five then try turning on the laptop.
