Connecting the phone to a charger while in use is preferable

When a charger is connected to a phone while in use:

1. the charger current goes directly to the battery and from the battery to the rest of the  phone? There in no direct connection from the charger to non-battery modules like screen and cpu.

2. Or some of the current goes to the battery to get charged and the rest of the current goes directly to the rest of the phone.

Where im going to is:

1. using the iphone/ipad while connected to a charger will not tax the battery.

2. connecting  the phone to a charger while in use will not degrade and use battery life and is the preferable way  to use the phone as posible.

It goes to both because the dock connector is plugged into the Motherboard that goes into the battery

Ok thanks for the answer. It sheds some insight.

Current from the charger does go directly to the peripherals

and results in less drain on the battery.

So, is it useful to use the iPad iPhone connected to the charger, I suppose?

Do android phones peripherals also receive current directly from the charger?

Having it plugged in most of the time will preserve the battery life.

The power the phone demands will be drawn from the wall charger. Any extra current available (not needed) will be redirected to the battery to charge it up when needed.

If the phone discharges while plugged into a charger this indicates the charger is either not strong enough or the phone is demanding too much power draw.
