1 Problems with Firmware update
I'm using a mid 2009 MacBook Pro but when trying to open the firmware app.
I get “program designed for 2009 and 2010 only” and won't recognize this IS a 2009 MacBook Pro

What firmware App are you trying to open? What system are you running? How much RAM do you have? How much free hard drive space do you have?
