Logic board chip shorted?

My uppercase is damaged on the sides

and corners and that caused the lowercase to not fit well when you close it

. At some point my laptop just stopped working and a repairs man told me that it’s a chip in the logic board that got electricity and went crisp.

And since my uppercase and lowercase dont close well , there is no good grounding of electricity and this could happen again anytime…

Would that be true ?

I think we are on a bad direction here as far as your real problem.

Grounding is something that is connected to the ground you walk on. Look at your electrical plug it likely has three prongs the 3rd pin is the grounding pin. If you go to the breaker panel you’ll see the power feed as well as a connection to your water pipe or grounding rod bonding the ground of your outlet to the physical earth ground.

Now lets look at the international space station its floating in space so what is ground there? Here the metal hull of the space station is ground. Your laptop is more like this. So what does this all have to do with your laptop issue? Nothing!

OK, lets go back to square one …

Your system is banged up and the bottom cover is not fitting correctly. At this point you could have a few possible issues. Lets take some pictures of the damage so we have a frame of reference Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente

Update (03/27/2019)

From the pics your display lid looks OK, Your uppercase and bottom cover did get the worse of it. You did punch in the corner which is where your drive sits, so it may have been damaged.

Block Image

As the bottom cover is not sealing the bottom dirt and liquid could find its way in as well. As we don’t have a view of the bottom cover we just don’t know if its caved in if it is it could have caused a far amount of damage to the logic board which is just behind it

Block Image

At this point you’ll need to take the lid off and inspect the logic board to see if any components got knocked off. Post another picture of the bottom so we can see where the cover is caved in then a second of the logic board like this one so we can see whats damaged.

Hello , according to electronics class I had some years ago , apparently there is grounding for a board ,( and no , not to the actual ground) or you get short circuit. :)

But please continue :)

I think you've got power electronics and micro-electronics confused! In micro electronics we use the chassis as a common point (technically not ground).

But, lets get off this tangent as it won't get your system working which is what I think you want to do, is that not the case?

Please take the pics and post them.
