Asus Transformer Flip does not power on at all

Hi All,

So I’ve just received a family member’s Asus Transformer Flip which appears to have no signs of life. The battery LED does not illuminate when plugged in (tried with two different chargers) nor does anything when the power button is pressed. I’ve already tried a hard reset, removing the battery and attempting to use it then, as well as cleaning out the RAM/RAM socket and using a different SO-DIMM. I feel though that this may be an issue with the DC jack or the motherboard itself.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

When you say “….removing the battery and attempting to use it then….” do you mean that you tried to start it with the charger connected only?

Have you visually inspected the DC-In jack to make sure that it is securely connected to the motherboard and that the jack’s centre connecting pin (viewed from the front) is still there and has not been broken?

If the DC-In jack is faulty here’s the part number 12014-00103500

If you search online using the part number only in the search box of your browser, you’ll get results for suppliers.

If the DC-IN jack appears to be OK try measuring the voltage at the battery connector (red and black) on the motherboard to see if any voltage is present at all. Be careful when you do this as you don’t want to slip with any tools as the motherboard is potentially “live” and you don’t want to electrically damage anything on the motherboard.
